SPEAKING THE UNSPEAKABLE
Not in words but in art
I found the expressions of my heart
I’d draw and paint and paint some more
Till I was drained from it all
Dark faces, scarred and twisted
Body images disfigured
Lines and shapes I couldn’t comprehend
Left me puzzled and in a trance
Uncensored, all was allowed
To come through and show me how
My soul’s journey had been stumped
By lies, betrayals and drugs
Not in words but in dance
Did I go there and back
Round and round and round, I’d twirl
Through time and space in reverse
I danced through forests, trees and bushes
Thorns in roses and muddy rivers
I danced and let the tears roll down
As I folded to the ground
And then the rising would begin
A stronger, better, healthier me
Rolling hips and arms a’ swaying
Picking up the rhythm’s pace
If you can’t speak the unspeakable, try this
Draw it out and let it reveal
Or spin yourself to a frenzy
It will take you to a holier place
You are not alone my friend
Too many foxes in the land
Too many sheep for them to slaughter
Live and learn but alert the others
